The first of twenty Chipotle Mexican Grill adventurrito puzzles was unlocked last night. It took me about thirty minutes to finally get logged into the website. The answer to the puzzle was not what I expected. The answer was rather challenging when the website was not working. The thrill of chasing down the answer had people turning to Twitter for help via the hashtag #adventurrito. A massive amount of traffic actually brought the website down for about an hour.
Joni and I gave this recipe for grilled apple slices topped with cinnamon and brown sugar a try tonight. It turned out pretty well. I grilled them while the steaks were resting. This recipe produced a low effort easy to execute dessert.
2 red apples
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup lemon juice (or the juice of one normal sized lemon)
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Theoretical preparation directions provided for educational purposes only:
1. Mix 1/2 cup water with 1/4 cup lemon juice (or the juice of one normal sized lemon) in a regular size bowl.
2. Core then cut the apple into slices about 1/4 inch (no more than 1/2 inch or they will burn before they cook). Set the apple on its side and proceed to slice about 6-9 slices per apple. You may want to discard the first and last slice that have apple skin on one side.
3. Grill the apple slices for about 5 minutes a side.
4. Put the apple slices in a normal sized bowl and sprinkle them with the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture.

If for a moment you are willing to suspend your disbelief and ignore the $2.50 delivery fee, then Papa John’s is really giving away free pizza. According to the television commercials and a report from the NFL Network, Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning now owns 21 Papa John’s pizza stores in the Denver area. Why does that matter to me? I did win a free pizza. Subscribes to Papa John’s website are really are winning free pizzas. I did not purchase anything from Papa Johns during my checkout. All I was obligated to do was order the free pizza using the promotional code and agree to pay a delivery charge of $2.50 in cash. I am waiting for my free pizza to show up right now…
I just purchased Top Chef Season 9 “Texas” from the Amazon instant video store. Can you guess what I will be doing on Sunday? Between Saturday night and Sunday evening I watched the entire season. After being subscription cable/satellite free for over a year the thought of paying for 200 channels I don’t watch seems ridiculous. Over the last two years I paid to watch both Top Chef Season 8 and Top Chef Season 9. I’ll probably buy the Amazon instant video store per episode subscription to Top Chef Season 10.
Fear can be a powerful motivator. The fear of having to buy an entire new wardrobe full of pants can be an extremely powerful motivator. Eating vegetarian 2/3 of the time has to count for something. Throughout the week my meal choices have involved selecting vegetarian options.
